dc.description.abstractA public toilet is very important especially for the passerby. Nowadays, the rest room had been included with high-tech equipments and facilities in order to increase the user’s ease and comfort. The equipments and facilities were also in capable of saving the environment such as electricity and water. This thesis provides a way to design a rest room system that is eco-friendly which saves the energy and water while increase the user’s convenient by using 8051 microcontroller (P89V51RB2FN). For this project, both software and hardware skills were required. A software called M-IDE Studio For MCS-51 was used as the assembler, compiler and simulator in this project. Flash Magic software was also used to load the Assembly Language and to execute it into the 8051 microcontroller board. For the hardware skills, the basic theory of the 8051 microcontroller and sensor were needed to be understood such as the connection and identifying the components. To design the system, specifications were initially set. From there, components were identified and programs were designed. Lastly, the components were connected with the 8051 microcontroller which contains the programs. In order to design a system that is eco-friendly and user-friendly, it is important to minimize the usage of the electricity and water by considering speed and power usage. With this intelligent system, it is not only to save the energy and water in the public toilet, but also a solution to the user’s bad habits such as did not flush the toilet and not closing the water tap tightly after using it. With many advantages included in this system, it is very compatible for it to be integrated into the public toilet in Malaysia.en_US
