dc.description.abstract | Dyes are one of the major water pollutant produced by many industries such as textile, printing, cosmetic and others. The highly toxic of this dye such as methylene blue can cause harmful to human and environment. This research was conducted to study the effect of bioadsorbent dosage, particle size and initial dye concentration on the percentage of dye removal. In addition, the dye removal conditions were optimized using the treated banana peel based bioadsorbent. The comparative experiment of different treatment banana peel had been done in this study to obtain the best bioadsorbent. The bioadsorbent had been characterized before and after adsorption test using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) technique. Characterization realized that ABP has many pores and a lot of methylene blue adsorb after adsorption experiment. Parametric study on the bioadsorbent had been tested on the parameters chosen. Increasing the bioadsorbent dosage, decreasing size particle and decreasing of initial dye concentration had increased the percentage of dye removal. Optimization using Design of Experiment (DOE) software resulted that the maximum percentage of dye removal 99.13 % using the bioadsorbent dosage, bioadsorbent particle size and initial dye concentration at 1.0 g, 0.25 mm and 60.53 ppm respectively. | en_US |
