Power flow analysis is very important in electric power industry. The efficient and optimum operation and planning of electric power generation can return a profit to capital invested. Power flow analysis include of planning, operation, economic scheduling and exchange of power between utilities. In addition, power flow analysis is required for many other analyses such as transient stability and contingency studies. This project present voltage control methods to improve the voltage level of a power system whilst minimizing losses. Capacitor bank and tap changing transformer are used to minimize losses. MiPower load flow simulation has been developed to implement a fast decoupled algorithm and calculate losses. The program is then used to simulate a 26 bus system to demonstrate the voltage control and loss minimization method using shunt capacitor bank and change the transformer tapping and the result of such of simulation are described.en_US
