Abstract: Regulation of direct current (DC) voltage has already become important in many applications across wide range of industrial sector. This Project, generally, is about designing, simulation and hardware implementation both control circuit and rectifier circuit for a single phase controlled rectifier. The control circuit is designed using ramp comparator scheme and consists of multiple sub circuits such as zero cross over detector, delay circuit, ramp generator, comparator, logic circuit and driver circuit. The firing angle is control by adjusting reference direct current (DC) voltage which is compared with a saw tooth voltage from a ramp generator circuit before it is feed into the gate of thyristors. A sinusoidal alternating current (AC) voltage is supplied to the full bridge rectifier circuit. To verify the operation of a rectifier circuit, a simulation is performed using Multisim software. Lastly, the circuits had developed and the experimental results are compared with the simulation results.
