This project reports the mechanical properties and the microstructure of composite materials made of hydroxyapatite, obtained from natural cow bone, and BaO (1,2 and 5 wt.%), which were sintered at different temperatures between of 1150 and 1250°C. Higher sintering temperatures resulted in better densification and less in porosity percentage. The samples sintered at 1200 °C had the highest MOR. The best flexural strrengths (MOR) were obtained after sintering at 1200 °C for 6 hours soaking time for the samples containing 5 wt.% BaO, and also 1150 °C for the samples with 5 wt.% BaO.en_US
