Abstract: Low density polyethylene (LDPE) was prepared with added non-halogen flame retardant and synergy. Blends with separate by four recipe in loading ranging from 0 to 60 wt % were prepared in Z blade mixer at 200°C and a motor speed 50 rpm followed by compression molding. Synergy was added for stabilize from the LDPE filled nonhalogen flame retardant antimony trioxide. The result show that properties burning of non-halogen flame retardant is better than halogen flame retardant. Although, this properties not be influence the environmental circumstance and healthy during combustion process because the future atmospheric concentrations of species that deplete the ozone layer. The thickness of the ozone layer is being reduced by chemicals released due to human activities. Chemicals that deplete the layers are called ozone depleting substance. Result by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) testing also shows the composites are contains non-halogen flame retardant is better compare the halogen flame retardant and contains a little synergy. Besides that, uses of low density polyethylene (LDPE) in flame retardant testing is not good because has many long and short chain branches, so that tacticity is not good and density and crystallinity are low. Low density polyethylene (LDPE) also soft and easy to melt at high temperature.
