Abstract: Total harmonic distortion is an outcome from the nonlinear loads. The used of nonlinear loads that increased especially in industry lead to produce the harmonic distortion. This harmonic distortion brings effects on equipment efficiency and its lifetime. A protection equipment that also impressed by the harmonic distortion is current transformer. This paper investigates the effect of total harmonic distortion on the current transformer in terms of its efficiency. Percentage ratio errors of the current transformer are measured to obtain the accuracy and efficiency of the current transformer. The testing is doing by simulation using Power Systems Computer Aided Design (PSCAD) software and compare with laboratory testing. The same ratio of current transformer (15/1A) is used.
