Abstract: The study was carried out to optimize of epoxidation blending of jatropha seed oil with soybean oil as biolubricant precursor. The jatropha was extracted by using Soxhlet method with high yield of crude extract at extraction of 6 hours which it gives 68.39% yields. The chemical test of jatropha, soybean and blending oils was evaluated through acid value (3.2712, 4.371 and 1.5972 mg KOH), iodine value (97.62, 137.898 and 115.056 g I2/100 g), saponification value (143.055, 145.393 and 91.63 mg/g) and peroxide value (32.03, 5.533 and 3.533 meq/kg). While physical test was carried out by using Fourier Transform Infra-Red and Gas Chromatography. In order to optimize the epoxidation, the reaction was applied using a central composite design technique of response surface methodology. To produce epoxidized blending oils of soybean oil jatropha oil, the epoxidation was carried out by using performic acid at constant temperature, 45⁰C and atmospheric pressure with different parameter of mole ratio of hydrogen peroxide and reaction time. The optimum content of oxygen oxirane (OOC) obtained was 1.83%, achieved by using mole ratio of 2.00 and at 5 hours duration. From the IR spectrum, it is showed that the percentage of oxirane peak is at 826.48 cm-1. Since jatropha is non-edible crops while soybean is edible vegetable, blending of them has been examined to have the optimum oxidation stability for epoxidation
