Abstract: This project is to design the GUI (Graphic User Interface) and write the coding to detect the attendance of students by using radio frequency identification (RFID) and an active tag operated by battery. The detector mentioned will detect the active tag within its range and then it will save the attendance information into the database which acts as an information storage. This project consists of seven main interfaces. It is used to enter student information, timetable, update password, prompt individual and class attendance report and prompt the timetable and information of students who had just login. The uniqueness of this project is it can detect the time in, time out and the date of the person wearing the active tag mentioned. This project uses Microsoft Visual Basic.Net 2005 to design the GUI (Graphic User Interface) and to write the coding. On the other hand, the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 acts as the database to store information that has been entered. This project is done is to detect students who play truant and those who cheat their attendances.
