Abstract: Wireless energy transfer or wireless power transmission is the process that takes place in any system where electrical energy is transmitted from a power source to an electric load, without interconnecting wires. Wireless transmission is employed in cases where instantaneous or continuous energy transfer is needed, but interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or impossible. Though the physics are related, this is distinct from wireless transmission for the purpose of transferring information, where the percentage of the power that is received is only important if it becomes too low to successfully recover the signal. With wireless energy transfer, the efficiency is a more critical parameter and this creates important differences in these technologies. A rectenna is a combination of a rectifying circuit and an antenna. It is a special type of antenna that is used to directly convert microwave energy into direct current (DC) electricity. There are four important part of a rectenna which are antenna, low pass filter, rectifier circuit, and dc filter, the main purpose of this thesis work is to design and fabricated of rectenna and to prove that it is possible to convert microwave energy to dc electricity. Even though the efficiency of rectenna is low and depend on environment situation, but it is a very promising field of study and a very efficient way to overcome an energy transfer problem or to generated power where a cable cannot reach.
