dc.description.abstract | Glass dust waste creates chronic environmental problems, mainly due to the inconsistency of waste glass streams. Recycling is the best solution for the crisis resulting from huge volumes of wastes and includes economic and environmental benefits. With increasing environmental pressure to reduce solid waste and to recycle as much as possible, the concrete industry has adopted a number of methods to achieve this goal. The properties of concretes containing glass dust waste as fine aggregate were investigated in this study. In the present work, glass dust waste was used as partial replacement for fine aggregate as much as 10 %, 20 % and 50 %. Using glass dust waste in concrete is an interesting possibility for economy on waste disposal sites and conservation of natural resources. Density for concrete control is 2400 kg/m³, for concrete mix 10 %, 20 % and 50 % are pass the average within 2340 kg/m³ for 10 % and 20 %, 2360 kg/m³ for 50 %. Compression strength for 7, 14 and 28 days concrete of age were compared with those of concrete made with natural fine aggregates. Water absorption of glass dust waste was also studied. An overall quantity of glass dust waste was used for 9 cubes as a partial replacement for sand at 10 % is 28.6 cm³, 20 % is 57.2 cm³, and 50 % is 143 cm³. The results proved highest strength activity given by glass dust waste after 28 days. The compressive strength of specimens with 10 % glass dust waste content were 32.94 MPa respectively, higher than those of the concrete control at 28 days. | en_US |
