Abstract: With today’s developments of power transmission systems, a huge number of structural steel towers to support in the connection of power cables are being constructed in Malaysia. However, wind is one of the most important considerations when designing a tower and is the impact that natural elements will have on the tower itself. In this study, three types of steel transmission towers: high, medium, low-rise tower under horizontal wind loadings with two different wind directions, in which parallel and perpendicular to cross arm of tower had been analyzed by linear static analysis and second order analysis are usually neglected. The three towers were modeled with same configuration of bracing and legs were assumed fixed to the foundation. The models had been developed and analyzed using STAAD.Pro V8i’s environment. It is learned that the maximum deflection is significant and should be considered in the design and analyses of tower structures. Research results of the three towers at different height will be described and compared among deflections of towers. The deflection results of two different directions under wind loading in static analysis are 56.94 %, 69.48 %, 51.42 % for the height of towers 13.05 m, 16.90 m and 20.35 m respectively.
