The study is about the flood potential area which focuses on river sedimentation by using Geographical Information System (GIS). The scope in this river sedimentation study is soil erosion which causes suspended solid in the river flow. The study area is Arau, Perlis which has total river catchment area is 57.39 sq.km. The river that involved in these catchment areas are Gial River, Panggas Kechil River, and Arau River. The total length river branches are 36.81 km. The objectives of this study are to study the river sedimentation which one of the flooding factor, to determine the condition of sedimentation for each station at the stream, and to map river sedimentation using GIS software. ArcGIS software is utilized in order to map river sedimentation by storing and analyzing the data include Total Suspended Solid (TSS), turbidity, velocity of river, and water level. GIS makes it easy to assign attributes to these spatial quantities and combine different layers of information. The final output of this project is flood potential area by using GIS. Due to analysis of all parameter using ArcGIS, Arau River has high potential to flood occur in a future.en_US
