Abstract: Reinforced concrete has been widely used in Malaysia as construction material. Nevertheless, defects reinforced concrete still commonly happens. This research is carried out in order to determine the reasons behind these defects and prevention steps or recommendations will be provided. To achieve the objectives, literature reviews, questionnaire surveying and interview have been carried out. Thus, the effectiveness of the recommendations and solutions developed will be justified by engineer. Through the research, the major factors are most likely caused by poor workmanship. Upgrading in material or workers’ skill together with supervision and inspection from third party are important to reduce the flaws in reinforced concrete during construction.
