Abstract: Rainwater Catchment System is a system that uses rainwater as the water sources for activities such cooking, washing, bathing and others activities that involved water utilization. This system is mostly applied at urban places. For the start level in Malaysia, this system was used for outdoor activities such watering garden, washing cars and other outdoor activities. In this project, the selection of the suitable material and type of roof in the installation of the roof for Rainwater Catchment System is explained are based on the mechanical properties, physical properties, environment effects, shape of the roof, runoff coefficient and costing and maintenance. The selection of material for roof is very important to determine the toughness of the system through the mechanical and physical properties and the accumulated volume of rainwater through the runoff coefficient. The project also explains how the rainfalls and the area of catchment influence the accumulated volume of the rainwater.
