Abstract: This project focus on study of shrinkage problem occurs during solidification to help minimize shrinkage on casting based on gating and risering design. The initial idea was to determine the right design of gating and risering which capable to minimize shrinkage defect on casting during solidification based on appropriate principles such are modulus design and Chvorinov’s Rule. Then, the designs will be analyzed by using Magmasoft Simulation Software for better understanding of this project objective. During this simulation stage, shrinkage on casting can be predicted and the effectiveness of gating and risering design can be observes. From the analyze result, the relationship of gating and risering system with shrinkage defect on casting can be determined and then apply into manufacturing field by helping the engineer to design product with accurate dimension.
