Abstract: ZnO nanowires (NWs) were synthesized via a wet chemical route, and subsequently characterized and evaluated for their ethanol gas sensing performance. It was observed that the ZnO NWs average width and length was approximately 20 nm and 1.5 μm, respectively. The sensors were exposed towards different concentrations of ethanol in synthetic air, at optimum operating temperature of 300°C. The highest sensitivity was observed when the sensor was exposed to ethanol concentrations between 12.5 - 125 ppm. The response and recovery time were 52 and 300 s, respectively.
