International Conference on Applications and Design in Mechanical Engineering 2012 (ICADME 2012) organized by School of Mechatronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), 27th - 28th Februari 2012 at Bayview Beach Resort, Penang, Malaysia.en_US
Injection timing optimization in terms of in-cylinder heat transfer analysis for direct injection hydrogen fueled engine was investigated through simulation, while the experimental data was utilized for validation purpose of the adopted numerical model. One-dimensional gas dynamics approach was used to describe the flow and heat transfer in the components of the engine model. The engine model was simulated with a variable engine speed, air-fuel ratio and injection timing. Model execution was performed for 2500 speed 5000 rpm, 34.33 AFR 171.65 and -110 0CA SOI -0 0CA. The baseline engine model with hydrogen fuel was verified with the experimental data, and good agreement was achieved. The obtained results show that there is optimum injection timing that gives the minimum desired heat transfer rate. This optimum injection timing strongly depends on the air-fuel ratio and engine speed.en_US
