Abstract: Anodic coating by anodizing in solution consisting of Mg (N03>2 and/or La (N03)3 was conducted to commercial AZ31Mg alloy. Anodic films that formed were analyzed, and the corrosion resistances of the specimens against salt water were investigated. The anti-corrosion properties of the films formed in the electrolyte solutions about five times far exceeded that of the anodic film produced using the DOW17 method. The anodic film consisted of two layers—a heterogeneous porous layer and a barrier layer.
