Abstract: Research has shown that nanofluids which are engineered colloids composed of a base fluid and nanoparticles have higher thermal conductivity and possess enhanced heat transfer coefficients compared to the base fluids. It is found that the nanoparticle diameter size, nanoparticle volume fraction, nanofluid temperature, and free stream velocity affect the nanofluid characteristics and the heat transfer coefficient. The aim of this paper is to discuss the development of research involving convection of nanofluids with emphasis on the various mathematical models adopted.
