The 6th International Engineering Invention & Innovation Exhibition 2015 (i-ENVEX 2015) was organized by ENVEX Young Researcher Club (EYReC), University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia on 17th - 19th April 2015, at UniMAP Main Campus, Pauh Putra, Perlis.en_US
Malaysia is the fifth major producer of plastics products in Asia countries, with the production of 24% out of 19100 tones municipal solid waste per day which are coming from plastics. However, recycling of plactics is difficult and costly. It also creating an issue of waste plactics disposal. Membrane systems are finding increasing application worldwide in the purification of portable and industrial water, and their design and use is set to grow considerably in years to come. There are many conventional ways to treat contaminated water such as chemical, biological and physical treatments. Another alternative way to treat contaminated water could be by employing membrane filtration. Therefore, a simple and low cost hybrid membrane which is synthesized from waste plastic is introduced to treat the contaminated water.en_US
