Design and develop Clamped-Current High-Power-Factor boost rectifier

Abstract

This thesis presents the design and develops of clamped-current high-power factor boost rectifier. The peak switch current is clamped at a constant value. The boost converter is operating in fixed frequency and fixed maximum duty cycle. Advantages of this project include overall simplicity and low component stresses. The power circuit mainly used the basic boost converter circuit. The power circuit is design for low harmonic distortion and low component stress. Unitrode UC3845 IC is used as the current mode PWM controller. The IC is operated at fixed operating frequency that is determined which is 153k Hz. It also automatically provides 50% of maximum duty cycle. The controller circuit is design base on the data sheet in appendix A. The result of this project is done experimentally on a prototype with specification of 110V input voltage, Vin, 183V output voltage, Vout, and 108W output power, Pout.
