Car plate number reader using optical character recognition (OCR)

Abstract

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a program that can analyse printed text and read the text. This car plate reader software will use the OCR to read the text from a car plate image that is capture by using a camera. Car plate reader software is design on Microsoft Visual Basic 10. It will use the Tesseract function of EmguCV to perform the OCR to the car plate image. The car plate reader software can be used in law enforcement, such as to detect stolen car or act as a speed trap to capture the image car plate of a speeding car.
