Bearing puller design
Pubalan, Nadaraja
The focus of this project is to design a bearing puller of specific application.
This project was assigned to design a bearing puller, a device for removing bearings,
gears and countless other press fitted parts from motor vehicles and machines such as
ball bearings. The device includes an elongated hollow housing to telescope over a
bearing shaft on which the bearing is seated. An outer collar and inner collar are
attached to the housing. Clamp means grip the inner collar and the bearing assembly to
cause the bearing to be pulled from its seat when pressure is applied to the shaft. The
removal of ball bearings assembled with interference between the inner race and shaft.
During removal of bearings from the shaft, the bearings condition and shaft’s surface
smoothness will be considered as not to make the surface dented. The adjustability of
bearing puller will enable usage in single row radial types bearings having outside
diameters ranging from 80 to 130mm. The bore diameters range from 40 to 55mm. The
design of bearing puller is designed in software Solidworks and simulated software
Cosmos. This designed bearing puller will be able to dismantle the bearing that fixed
with interference of 0.04mm for tightest fit that is being used. For desired tightest fit
that desired, the maximum radial pressure between the inner race and the shaft is
20kN/mm². Finally, a number of recommendations are put forward at the end of this
report as further development that could be taken in this project.

Design of mechanical power transmission system of a small wind turbine for water pumping
Mohd Azlan, Ahmad Shaari
Power transmission is one of the main components for a wind turbine. Transmission
of power from a source, such as an engine or motor, through a machine to an output
actuation is one of the most common machine tasks. The design of a system to transmit
power requires attention to the design and selection of individual components such as gears,
bearings, shaft and many more. The goal of this project is to produce water pumping wind
turbine power transmission design by using Solidworks version 2005 which is computer
aided design (CAD) software. The suitable gear selection is important so that the output
speed of the wind turbine will be able to operate the reciprocating pump.
