| Abstract: | Olfaction plays an important role in orienting animal
behaviors such as search for foods, alert danger of
predator and finding mate. The olfaction system to
discriminate system had been investigated by numbers
of research groups and most of it were conducted
manually which exposure the worker to potential
hazardous gas leakage. This research intended to
investigate an autonomous odour source localization
using mobile robot. This will eliminate the danger
faced by the worker from hazardous gas. The approach
is to automate the robot sensing strategies and
navigation algorithm while searching for the odour
source. The experiment procedures are continued
using other algorithm and their performance are being
evaluated. The results demonstrated that by using two
gas sensors coupled with three ultrasonic sensors, an
effective robot navigation algorithm can be used for
the odour source localization. |
