Abstract: Many industrial processes involve the generation of waste gases and particulates. Environmental legislation enacted as a result of government policy has compelled industry to pay a serious attention to the air pollution issue. It has driven to the need to install air pollution control equipment. Rigid ceramic filters have proved themselves as highly efficient gas filtration devices in particles emission control. However, the filter cleaning mechanisms are still not fully understood. A computer program is developed to model the flow of the reverse pulse air from the cleaning bar nozzle to the dusty side of the filter. The program uses an iterative calculation mode of Microsoft Excel and allows variables such as reverse pulse pressure and filter geometry to be changed. Predictions are carried out on various pulse tube distances, temperatures of gas flow and various friction factors in order to study their effects on pressure distribution. The simulation is validated by data obtained from previous experiment works and fair agreement is achieved.
