Abstract: The solution of a system of nonlinear equations is a difficult problem in numerical computation. For many numerical approaches, the convergence and performance characteristics can be highly sensitive to the initial guess of the solution being used in the methods. However, it is not easy to select a good initial guess for most systems of nonlinear equations. In this paper we look at the problem from a multi objective optimization problem and use particle swarm optimization to solve the problem. Comparisons are made with other recent techniques to show its competitiveness.
