| Abstract: | The study used EDXRF technique to
determine the concentrations of
hazardous elements such as lead,
chromium, mercury, bromine and
cadmium. Quantitative analysis of these
elements was done by using the
Regression and standard Fundamental
Parameter methods. The standard
Fundamental Parameter method
involved the used of one reference
standard. Calibrations graphs using both
methods were plotted and this produced
straight lines with R2 value of more than
0.98. Accuracy of the standard
Fundamental Parameter was then
established by comparing its analysis
value with the certified value of a
reference standard. The result shows that
the discrepancies of 0.18 – 1.09% were
obtained for these elements. |
